That's Rhythm Jamaican Jazz & early Ska
Die erste Hälfte der 1960er Jahre war auf Jamaika ein Zeit des Wandels. Nach über 300 Jahren endete die britische Kolonial-Herrschaft und am 6. August 1962 wurde der Inselstaat unabhängig.
Parallel zu diesem historischen Ereignis entwickelte sich ein neuer und eigener Sound in Jamaika. Federführend war der Produzent und Labelchef Clement Dodd, der als einer der ersten lokale Bands aufnahm und veröffentlichte.
In dieser Ausgabe hört ihr Aufnahmen aus dem Archiv von Clement Dodd und seinem berühmten Studio-One, die zwischen 1959 und 1965 entstanden sind.
