Ende der 60er haben sich The Who Stück für Stück vom kompakten Mod-Sound ihrer Pioniertage entfernt und sich Richtung Epos bewegt. Nach der Rockoper "Tommy" und dem ikonischen "Live at Leeds" wird "Who's Next", im UK erschienen am 25. August 1971, zum monumentalen Wurf, Tracks wie "Baba O'Riley" oder "Won't Get Fooled Again" aus dem Stand zu Klassikern.
