ByteFM Magazin Gun Of Brixton
Heute vor 70 Jahren wurde The-Clash-Bassist Paul Simonon im englischen Brixton geboren. Eigentlich wurde er als Gitarrist engagiert, die Gitarre aber konnte er gar nicht spielen und landete dann am etwas einfacher zu handhabenden Bass. Ausschlaggebend war am Anfang sowieso vor allem sein cooler Look. Über die Jahre entwickelte sich Simonon jedoch zum vielleicht groovigsten aller Punk-Bassisten, inspiriert wurde er dabei vom Sound der jamaikanischen Community in Brixton: Rocksteady, Ska und Reggae.
