London zwischen Riots und dem Nottinghill Carnival 2011.
Das Hardcore-Continuum und die Folgen. Britische Randalierer hatten vor einer Woche während der Riots ein Lagerhaus niedergebrannt, das die Bestände von mehr als 150 Independent-Labels beherbergte. Allein die Beggars Group und ihre Unterlabels (mit Künstlern wie u.a. Natacha Atlas, Vampire Weekend, Jamie XX) haben 750.000 ihrer Tonträger in Enfield verloren. Auch Indie-Flaggschiffe wie Warp (z.B. Battles und Brian Eno) oder Ninja Tune sind betroffen.
In seinem aktuellen Track "Dear London – I watch the City burn" schreibt Anuj Rostagi: "I have realized that 'civilized' is a place just idealized As Somalis starve and Libyans die I watch this city burn from the London Eye". Kann der Nottinghill Carnival in diesem Jahr überhaupt stattfinden am letzten Augustwochenende?
