Was ist Musik Hit it, quit it, talk about it – Traxmans offene Quellen

Ausgabe vom 28.09.2014: Hit it, quit it, talk about it – Traxmans offene Quellen

“Now this is a dude who can talk.” Seinen Ansatz beschreibt der Footwork-Producer so: "Hit it, quit it. Rashad was the same way." Und dann legt er, Stück für Stück, die Quellen seines grandiosen Mind of Traxman Vol.2-Albums offen. Offenheit, die gewürdigt sein will, Stück für Stück. “Now this is a dude who can talk.”

Time Slip
That is a Roy Ayers sample. Making a track is like painting a picture, y’know. You look at the paper before the pen hits the paper. If you listen to Rashad or R.P. Boo... R.P.’s music is a weird-ass ride. For some crazy dumb reason, we can understand it, though. And footworkers can. Its just one of those tracks.
Blow Your Whistle (Tha Out of Here Remixx)
One of my favorite tracks. That’s a Lyn Collins sample ["We Want To Parrty, Parrty, Parrty"] from a recording James Brown made. And I went with her cuz she had that voice. And the whistle part is from Kool and the Gang, “Wild and Peaceful.” What I do with records and tracks, I chop it real weird. But it’s a groove to it and the track is right there. Of course, the eight-and-a-half [note groove]. It’s an experiment I did in ‘99. Of course, the sixteen [note groove] is going [imitates rhythm] and the eight-and-a-half is [imitates rhythm]. That’s the eight-and-a-half. I created that. Rashad took that and ran with it, R.P. took it and ran with it. But, in “Blow Your Whistle” when it goes it’s different. Like what is this? I wouldn’t consider the music footwork. It’s just some weird-ass shit. It’s got a groove to it! Some color, some texture and color. I didn’t never know that this track was gonna get big as I thought I would get. And once again, thanks to Rashad. He went to London to play this record in 2010.
Nothing Stays the Same
That is a [Fred Wesley and the] JB’s sample from “Same Beat.” And the singing-- you would never guess who that is singing. That’s Diana Ross [from “It's My Turn”]. What is Diana Ross doing over a JB’s groove record? Weird! The weirder it is, the more people get pulled in.
Mic
“Mic” is just a goofy, out-of-this-world idea. You know I took that idea from 9th Wonder? I was roaming around just looking for stuff and he chopped up this Michael Jackson right here and it’s called “Dear Michael” and he just cut it apart. I thought “oh my god!” this is just bananas!
Computer Getto
I’ve been a Kraftwerk nut since I was eight years old-- I’m 42 now-- thanks to my uncle.
